Only three runnings of the race so far but a strong trend in that all three winners had run in the Paddy Power Gold Cup and the boylesports.com Gold Cup.

ThisThatandTother finished runner up in both. Fondmort finished fourth under top weight in the Paddy Power and was running well when brought down in the boylesports. Taranis finished 3rd in the boylesports after falling when running well in the Paddy Power.

L'antartique won the Paddy Power this year with Knowhere finishing in third.

Knowhere was pulled up in the boylesports but was around 6th turning for home when it looked like too many races in a short space of time caught up with him. Tamarinbleu won the boyelsports in good style and has to be a serious contentender for the Ryanair.

A superb race and a brilliant jumping performance from Taranis. Left in front a little earlier than he would have wanted after the fall of long time leader Crozan, Paul Nicholls' gelding fought off challenger after challenger under a classic Ruby Walsh ride.
Our Vic seemed to be well beat turning for home but was galvanised into making another effort by Timmy Murphy and was closing on the winner at the line but couldn't quite get there.
