Time to throw the stats book out the window as Voy Per Ustedes became the first six year old to win the Champion Chase for 34 years! Alan King's horses were running at the top of their form and given top assistance from Robert Thornton in the saddle and this race was no exception as the young horse survived a mistake two out to get the better of Dempsey on the run in.

However, with Well Chief falling early in the race, Newmill disappointing and Nickname pulling out it's hard to say just how good a race this actually was.
