All of the last ten winners had either finished first or second on their last outing

Nine of the last ten winners had run between six and seventeen times over hurdles

Nine of the last ten winners started at 8/1 or less

Nine of the last ten winners had no more than four runs since August of that season

Nine of the last ten winners had previously finished 1st or 2nd in a grade one hurdle

Nine of the last ten winners had previously run at the Cheltenham Festival

World Hurdle Analysis

It's now fifteen years since Doran's Pride last scored an Irish victory in this race and despite a few close calls since then it has to be said that the staying hurdle division is one area where the Festival raiders tend to fall short.

Make sure you have good reason if you fancy an Irish horse in the World Hurdle!

Shocks have been rare since Anzum's 40/1 upset in 1999 so it may be best to concentrate on horses just behind the market leader.
