World Hurdle Analysis
Big Bucks is an exceptional staying hurdler but he will have to push the bar even higher to win the World Hurdle in 2011. No horse has won the staying hurdle crown three years in succession and whilst age is on Big Bucks' side (he will be eight) perhaps taking a short price about him in the ante post market is a dangerous ploy.
It's now fifteen years since Doran's Pride last scored an Irish victory in this race and despite a few close calls since then it has to be said that the staying hurdle division is one area where the Festival raiders tend to fall short. That said they could have a serious challenger this year if Willie Mullins resists the pull to go for a David Nicholson hat-trick with Quevega. This high quality mare was very impressive when upped to three miles at the Punchestown festival and if she can stay sound she could give Big Bucks plenty to think about.
World Hurdle Tips
Shocks are rare in this race with Anzum's 40/1 victory in 1999 something of a one off in recent years so its probably best to focus on the principles in the betting market.
Grade One Or Two winning form and Cheltenham Festival experience also look to be essential criteria and this should narrow the candidates down to a very manageable number.
