Queen Mother Chase - Analysis
As with so many races at the Festival, the last of our trends highlights the need for previous form at the course and, in this case, preferably form at the Festival itself. The fact that nine of the last ten winners have returned an SP of 5/1 or shorter also indicates that this race has been a decent race for punters with only the 16/1 win of Newmill in 2006 a relative shock.
Champion Chase tips
Master Minded finally put to bed the stat that recent Champion Chase winners struggled to retain their title and he became the first to double up since Viking Flagship in 1995.Even so the double champion was not as authoritative as he was the year before and even given Paul Nicholls' excuses about not having the horse quite right it might be worth trying to find something to oppose Master Minded with for 2010.
Kalahari King was mightily impressive when winning a big handicap at Doncaster under top weight and his near miss in last year's Arkle gives him top-class course form.
Trainer Ferdy Murphy as always been certain of Kalahari Kings star quality and he could be the one to stop Master Minded becoming only the second horse to win three Queen Mother Champion Chases.
