Jewson Novices Chase Analysis
The top two stats here look very significant as any horse with a much higher rating than 135 could well be vulnerable to a horse whose true handicap mark has not yet been fully exposed.
The offical ratings band of 123-135 of the five winners is further compressed over the last four years where all four winners have been rated in a 2lb window between 133-135. This very tight rating band may even itself out over the next few years but horses in this rating category will definitely be worth considering.
The unexposed nature of winners of this race is further emphasised by the fact that all five winners had only one once over fences thus leaving plenty of scope for further improvement.
Jewson Novices Chase Tips
Paul Nicholls won with Sanctuaire yesterday in the Fred Winter Hurdle and he had been quoting that he thought that horse was one of best handicapped of the week along with a horse who runs here, Rivaliste.
First and second on his two starts since coming to England the handicapper does seem to have taken a bit of a risk putting him in here off 137 and with Nicholls winning this race last year with Chapoturgeon he should know what would be required.
With a win now registered for the Nicholls camp the floodgates could start to open and Rivaliste can be another winner for the Champion team.
