Conditionals Hurdle

This race was run at the Festival for the first time in 2009 and is run over two and a half miles and, as the title suggests, is only open to Conditional Jockeys.

Martin Pipe Conditionals Hurdle Trends

With only six winners so far it may be too early to draw too many conclusions but the higher weighted horses have appeared to hold sway so far.

Martin Pipe Conditionals Hurdle Analysis

Most punters would probably have expected David Pipe to have won at least one of the runnings of this race named after his father but as yet Pipe Jnr has drawn a blank.

The Pipe yard had SEVEN runners in this race in 2009 but could fare no better than third. Since then Pipe has had a further eight runners without success.

A better return must surely be on the cards very soon.

Philip Hobbs has a great record in the handicap hurdles at Cheltenham but has yet to add this race to their list of Festival winners.

The Hobbs stable regularly find excellent young jockeys and winning a race such as this would be a suitable reward for all their hard work.

Representatives from the Hobbs yard will definitely be worth considering in this race in 2015.

However, the stable with the best return so far from this race belongs to Nicky Henderson.
With a winnner at 25/1 in 2009, 2nd and 4th in 2010, 3rd in 2011 and 3rd again in 2012. It seems the master of Seven Barrows likes to have a tilt at the Martin Pipe race and Henderson's runners in 2015 will warrant very close inspection once again.

Martin Pipe Conditionals Hurdle Tips

OLBG member Alexman is keen on the chances of MCKINLEY in the Conditionals Hurdle:

“One I really fancy here is a Grade 1 winner, a horse who has beaten Tell Us More who went on to run well in the Supreme on the opening day, who has won over the distance, can handle a variety of ground conditions and is somehow on a mark of 136 for this race. McKinley is the fancy here and he looks to have an absolutely cracking mark considering form in the book. Trained by the master Willie Mullins who is enjoying another great week I really want to be with McKinley here as I think for a Grade 1 winner he is thrown in. Perhaps that form has been underestimated because he was the outsider of his stable's runners? Still I won't complain and McKinley is the selection in the penultimate race of the 2015 festival.”
