Most punters would probably have expected David Pipe to have won at least one of the runnings of this race named after his father but as yet Pipe Jnr has drawn a blank.
The Pipe yard had SEVEN runners in this race in 2009 but could fare no better than third. Since then Pipe has had a further seven runners without success.
A better return must surely be on the cards very soon.
has a great record in the handicap hurdles at Cheltenham with wins in the Coral
Cup and County Hurdle but have yet to add this race to their list of Festival winners.
The Hobbs stable regularly find excellent young jockeys and winning a race such as this would be a suitable reward for all their hard work.
Representatives from the Hobbs yard will definitely be worth considering in this race in 2014.
However, the stable with the best return so far from this race belongs to Nicky Henderson
With a winnner at 25/1 in 2009, 2nd and 4th in 2010, 3rd in 2011 and 3rd again in 2012. It seems the master of Seven Barrows likes to have a tilt at the Martin Pipe race and Henderson's runners in 2014 will warrant very close inspection once again.
