Kim Muir Trends Analysis

Trainers that have a good record in this race are Nicky Henderson (three winners since 1990), Donald McCain (wins in 2007 and 2010) and David Pipe who had first and second in this race in 2011 and second in 2010.

This race tends to go to a handicap chaser who has learnt enough to keep his amateur pilot out of trouble but hasn't got to the point where his handicap mark has become overexposed.

None of the last ten winners had more than nineteen races over fences.

Horses who have had between five and eleven chase outings have won the last eight renewals of this race.

Kim Muir Preview

The Kim Muir seems to becoming the Grand National stepping stone with 2010 winner Balllabriggs going on to Aintree glory and the 2012 winner Sunnyhillboy losing out in the National by a whisker.

Ireland had not won this race since 1983 until last year but they managed 1st, 2nd and 4th in 2014 so perhaps the tide is changing?

Kim Muir Tips

OLBG member Robmull has selected STANDING OVATION for the Kim Muir:

“Standing Ovation has won 4 of his 14 starts over fences and has solid form at Cheltenham having finished 6th in the Stayer's Handicap Chase on the first day of last year's Festival and 2nd on his seasonal debut back in October 2014. Since then, he has failed to complete in two subsequent starts having pulled up at Wincanton and fallen when going well back at Cheltenham in December. He has been given a break since his fall and goes well when fresh and looks capable of getting involved in the finish on ground that should suit.”
