Kim Muir Trends Analysis

The Irish don't have a good record in this race with no winner in this race since Greasepaint in 1983!

Trainers that do have a good record are Nicky Henderson (three winners since 1990), Ferdy Murphy (wins in 1996 and 2006) and Donald McCain (wins in 2007 and 2010). David Pipe recorded first and second in this race in 2011 (and second in 2010) but Martin Pipe also won this race three times between 1991 and 2004 so Pond House certainly know what is required to win the Kim Muir.

This race tends to go to a handicap chaser who has learnt enough to keep his amateur pilot out of trouble but hasn't got to the point where his handicap mark has become overexposed.
Horses who have had between five and eleven chase outings have won the last six renewals of this race and a pattern could be emerging.

Kim Muir Preview

The Kim Muir seems to becoming the Grand National stepping stone with 2010 winner Balllabriggs going on to Aintree glory and the 2012 winner Sunnyhillboy losing out in the National by a whisker.

Looking out for a horse with the potential to go on to bigger things appears to be the way to go in this race.
