Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle Analysis

This looks like a race where some good trends are developing and applying the five stats from our list above will surely narrow down the prospective winners.

There will be a tendency for trainers to run horses here who are seen as having a big future over fences but that does not necessarily mean they will have what is required to be competitive in this race. In other words, the horses with a realistic chance are few given the size of the field.

Good form in a Graded Hurdle appears to be a prerequisite for success in the Albert Bartlett.

The market also provides an accurate guide with only two occasions where the race fell to an outsider.

In short, we are looking for a well fancied six or seven-year-old with good form in high class company.

Albert Bartlett Preview

Although only ten-years-old this race has already produced horses who have gone on to be at least as good over fences with 2007 winner Wichita Lineman returning in 2009 to win the William Hill HCap Chase. 2009 winner Weapons Amnesty and 2011 victor Bobs Worth both went on to RSA glory the following year and, of course, Bobs Worth then went on to win the Gold Cup.

Paul Nicholls has hit the crossbar in this event in recent years with placings for Najaf, Pride Of Dulcote and Thisthatandtother.

Willie Mulins has also come close to victory here with Black Harry, The Midnight Club and Boston Bob so his representatives should also be respected.

The above two trainers look sure to supply a winner of this race in the near future.

Albert Bartlett Tips

OLBG member TheKnow is keen on the chances of BLACK HERCULES in the Albert Bartlett:

“Black Hercules looks a proper staying type. He's owned by Andrea & Graham Wylie and trained by Willie Mullins, the same combination who trained last year's favourite Briar Hill. Things didn't pan out in this race for the latter mentioned horse (fell halfway round) but Black Hercules is expected to step up on his bumper form now sent hurdling and could gain compensation for his connections.
